Midwest Wisconsin's hippest hang out for hounds
Barn Hunt is a sport that involves dogs sniffing around a barn or barn-like course for vermin. The vermin, typically trained rats, are placed in a protective and breathable tubes. There are many different titles that a dog can receive based on their proficiency in the job performed. The rats are never harmed, and their welfare is of the utmost importance in this sport. The dogs are merely using their nose to FIND the hidden rats within the hay. This is also a very inclusive sport for all dogs – deaf dogs, blind dogs, dog with mobility issues, handlers with mobility issues and everyone in between.
Saturday’s workshop will be introducing the dogs to the “barn” environment, the rat smell, and what their job will be. And then putting it all together and practicing.
Sunday’s workshop will be for intermediate students (including the Saturday participants) and others who have some experience with this sport. Dogs attending this workshop must be comfortable in a building with other dogs within visual distances and be able to hang out with their owners while others take a turn either near on a mat or in a crate.
You can do ONE or BOTH days of this workshop. You will need to sign up for each day individually.
Lunch is included both days.
