The first 3 weeks of this course will be an overview of the 10 items on the CGC test. On the last day of class – week #4 – we will hold a CGC test.
You will teach/practice the skills listed below:
Accepting a friendly stranger
Sitting politely for petting
Allows instructor to comb or lightly brush the dog, includes ear and foot exam (attendees should provide comb or brush of their choosing)
Walking nicely on a loose leash. includes right and left turn, about turn and stop
Walking through a group of people
Sit and down on command, includes handler walking 20 ft away while the dog stays in position
Come when called from 10 feet away
Demonstrate ability to calmly pass another dog
Demonstrate a reasonable recovery from a distraction such as an item being dropped
Supervised Separation, meaning the dog calmly accepts the handler going out of site for 3 min while being held on a 6′ leash by the evaluator.
